Training should fit your goals, equipment and schedule.

The 2026 Olympia is less than a week away, bringing professional bodybuilding and physique competition back to Las Vegas. The official event runs September 24–27, with amateur competition and other Olympia-week activities beginning earlier in the week.

For anyone who follows bodybuilding, strength training or physique competition, the event is worth watching for more than the titles. The preparation, training and different approaches athletes bring to the stage offer plenty for lifters to study.

When Is the 2026 Olympia?

The 2026 Joe Weider's Olympia Fitness & Performance Weekend takes place in Las Vegas from September 24 through September 27. The IFBB Professional League lists 12 professional Olympia divisions: Men's Bodybuilding, 212 Bodybuilding, Classic Physique, Men's Physique, Wheelchair Bodybuilding, Women's Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure, Bikini, Women's Physique, Wellness and Fit Model.

When Is Mr. Olympia?

The official Olympia schedule places Mr. Olympia prejudging on Friday, September 25, with the Mr. Olympia finals scheduled for Saturday, September 26. Saturday also includes the finals of Fitness, Men's Physique and Bikini.

That makes the weekend easy to follow for fans primarily interested in the men's open title while still leaving room for the many other divisions that make Olympia weekend a major fitness event.

Who Is in the Spotlight?

OlympiaTV's official 2026 coverage identifies Derek Lunsford as the reigning champion and lists former champion Samson Dauda among the major athletes competing. The official coverage also highlights Andrew Jacked and Nick Walker.

Rather than trying to predict the result, watch how athletes compare in conditioning, size, structure and presentation on the actual stage. Bodybuilding is judged on the complete physique, not simply who has the most muscle.

The 2026 Livestream Is Free

One of the biggest developments for fans this year is the official livestream. OlympiaTV says the 2026 Olympia livestream is free and will cover September 24–27 after viewers register.

The official coverage includes prejudging and finals across the Olympia divisions, making it much easier to follow from home.

Olympia Week Is Bigger Than the Main Contest

Olympia week includes the Amateur Olympia, an Olympia Pop Up Gym, the fitness expo and additional strength events. There is also the American Barbell Talon Cup, an Olympic weightlifting competition featuring youth, masters and open lifters competing in the snatch and clean & jerk under USA Weightlifting rules.

That makes Olympia week relevant to a much broader strength audience than bodybuilding alone.

What Everyday Lifters Can Learn

Most people watching the Olympia are not trying to become professional bodybuilders, and they do not need to copy an elite competitor's preparation. The useful lesson is consistency: elite physiques are built through years of structured training, nutrition, recovery and repeated execution.

For everyday lifters, focus on what you can control. Follow a program that fits your schedule, train consistently, record your work and give the process enough time to produce measurable progress.

Watch the Training, Not Just the Stage

The final physique gets most of the attention, but the preparation behind it is where strength-training fans can learn the most. Look at exercise selection, training frequency, volume management and how deliberately athletes approach each session.

You should not assume an elite athlete's exact routine is appropriate for you. Use professional training as inspiration, then build around your own goal, schedule, equipment and recovery.

Use the Olympia as Inspiration, Not a Template

Professional bodybuilding is a specialized sport. Preparing for an Olympia stage is very different from training for general strength, muscle growth or fitness.

You can still take inspiration from the discipline involved. Pick a repeatable routine, track your sets, reps and weight, and look for progress over months rather than expecting every workout to produce a dramatic change.

The 2026 Olympia Is Almost Here

With the professional event scheduled for September 24–27 and a free official livestream available this year, the 2026 Olympia is more accessible to fans. Whether you follow open bodybuilding, Classic Physique, women's divisions, wheelchair bodybuilding or the wider strength events around Olympia week, there is plenty to watch.

And when the stage lights go off, the same basic lesson applies to the rest of us: choose a good program, show up consistently and keep a record of the work.
