For now, the database focuses on accurate, original written guidance.

How to perform

  1. Set the bench to a moderate incline and position yourself securely.
  2. Unrack the bar with your upper back braced and feet planted.
  3. Lower the bar toward the upper chest with control.
  4. Press upward without losing your upper-back position.

Tips

  • A modest incline is usually easier to control than an extremely steep one.
  • Keep the ribcage and pelvis controlled rather than overextending the lower back.

Common mistakes

  • Using too much incline and turning the movement into a shoulder press.
  • Allowing elbows to flare excessively.
